Current Club Commissioner for the student senate Joshua Villanueva is now running for the position of Vice President of Senate Affairs.
Villanueva moved to Santa Barbara from Paso Robles, Calif. and is majoring in engineering. The second year City College student hopes to “bring equality amongst students.”
“I feel like the students are a little under-represented,” said Villanueva.
Villanueva has previous experience working within the student senate and as a Region VI vice chair for the Student Senate for California Colleges.
“I’ve been a vice chair for the region for a while now,” he said. “I feel like at this point, with all my duties and experiences I have earned, I can do a lot for the senate as the vice president of senate affairs.”
The vice president candidate is passionate about helping his fellow City College students, and wants to help them by implementing many different programs.
“The top change I would like to implement at the school would be to create a food bank for students,” said Villanueva. “It’s going to take a while to do, but I plan to put in the time and effort to attain that. I know how it feels to study for hours on end and not eat lunch, and it’s terrible. A lot of students are in that situation, and I want to help them.”
