The following incidents happened over the winter break.
Dec. 15
A hit and run occurred at 1:45 p.m. in the east parking lot of La Playa stadium. The City College student victim called the security office within minutes, but the offending driver could not be found.
Dec. 16
The Luria Library staff received an obscene email sent by an upset student regarding a $10 overdue fine. The librarian who personally opened the email referred to it as “fairly graphic, and very inappropriate.”
Jan. 14
A fight broke out between two male students in the east parking lot next to the Student Services building, as witnessed by Senior Security Officer Ricardo Ornelas.
A departing driver, who said he was saving the parking space for a friend, blocked a spot from another driver. When the departing driver’s friend took the parking place, the student who was denied the parking spot sped around the lot to confront the departing driver. Officer Ornelas noticed the speeding car and followed behind.
The two males exited their cars, walked toward each other with hands raised, “then started fighting by trying to strike blows and wrestling,” according to the officer’s report.
Officer Ornelas separated the students, and Security Supervisor Eric Fricke arrived to assist him. Neither student chose to press charges, although both suffered from bruises and torn shirts.
