20-year-old Londoner Adele’s debut album “19” effectively introduces us to the soulful and lounge sounding tones of her vocal talent. Adele sounds like Amy Winehouse without the drug and alcohol addictions.
Her voice belts out her self-proclaimed and heartbroken soul in songs like “Chasing Pavement” and “Melt my heart to stone.” The accompanying piano and acoustic guitar add great background music.
Her song “Daydreamer” lags a bit and drips heavy with lovey-dovey lyrics like “with eyes that make you melt, he lends his coat for shelter plus he’s there for you when he shouldn’t be, but he stays all the same, waits for you then sees you through,” but it picks right back up the funky bass guitar beats in “Best for last.”
It’s clear that we can expect a lot more to come from Adele.
