Robert Towne opened the 21st Santa Barbara International Film Festival with his latest picture “Ask the Dusk,” starring Salma Hayek. Towne wrote and directed the film. He has worked as a writer, director, producer, and actor. He was born in Los Angeles and went to Pomona College.
Towne has been credited with helping to write some of the greatest scenes in cinematic history, like the garden scene between Marlon Brando and Al Pacino in the 1972 classic, “The Godfather.”
He has also written films like “Chinatown,” “Days of Thunder,” “Mission Impossible II” and “Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes.”
