The Vaqueros Women’s volleyball team spooked their opponent Allan Hancock with a 3-0 sweep in the WSC North on Halloween.
Although Hancock was strong in their digs and blocks, their hitting percentage and aces were no match for City College.
Freshman Hayley Johnson (11), who had been sidelined for 13 games due to an injury, subbed in the second set with four kills and an ace in her fourth game back.
Recovering from an injury is difficult, said Johnson to Sports Information Officer Dave Loveton, but “It felt good to be back on the court.”
In addition to Johnson’s plays, the Vaqueros ended the game with freshman Lexi Michaelson (1) serving four aces, a season best, and sophomore Kate Richardson (12) logging eight kills in the books.
The Vaqueros have two matches left in their season, 6 p.m. Friday at Cuesta and then next 6 p.m. Wednesday in their last home match against Moorpark.
