Monday, Feb. 24
Women’s Tennis: City College at Ventura (6-3) W
The Vaqueros women’s tennis team bounced back from their previous loss of 2-7 on Feb. 22 from Bakersfield. As the fourth conference game of the season, this win brings them to 3-1 in conference.
Tuesday, Feb. 25
Men’s Baseball: City College vs. Cuesta (17-1 ) W
City College triumphed over Cuesta with a 17-1 victory. Leading off, Will Matuszak drove in four runs, while Aidan Camberg added another three runs. The Vaqueros recorded 17 runs on 16 hits. Their highest scoring inning was in the sixth, where they managed to score six runs. On the mound, Joseph Talarico pitched six scoreless innings, striking out five batters.
Men’s Tennis: City College vs. Ventura (1-8) L
Ventura men’s tennis team dominated the Vaqueros with a 8-1 victory. Mauritz Seitz of City College scored the lone victory with a three-set game that was won by a narrow window in the third set. The final set was scored 3-6, 6-1, 14-12. In doubles, freshmen Ludi Chan and Loris Alem fought hard to tiebreak a 6-6 score, but ultimately fell to Ventura in a final set score of 8-6 .
Women’s Tennis: City College at Antelope Valley (6-3) W
Out of conference play, women’s tennis scored a 6-3 victory against Antelope Valley. The Antelope Valley team put up a strong fight, but the Vaqueros ultimately prevailed, demonstrating their ability to perform well even outside of conference matches.
Men’s Volleyball: City College vs. Santa Monica (3-0) W
Santa Monica men’s volleyball was swept by City College in three straight sets. The final scores were 25-18, 25-21, 25-18. Key players included Mykolas Petraitis, who led with 10 kills and 9.5 points, and Rocky Brazier contributed strong assists. On the defense James Walker-Ziegler provided solid blocking with one solo block and six block assists.
Wednesday, Feb. 26
Women’s Basketball: City College vs. Imperial Valley (57-52) W
City College won against Imperial Valley with a score of 57-52 in the playoffs. In the first round of the 2025 3C2A Basketball SoCal Regionals, key contributions included Kaylee Bosetti‘s three three-pointers in the first quarter, and the Vaqueros’ adjustments in the third quarter. The game remained tight in the final minutes, but a three-pointer by Amarise Camargo, assisted by Siena Hoban, pushed them into the lead. With 11 players getting action on the court, the women’s basketball ended with a close victory of 57-52.
Thursday, Feb. 27
Men’s Baseball: City College at Cuesta (7-4) W
City College’s baseball team secured a 7-4 victory over Cuesta. Will Matuszak and Aiden Camberg led the offense, with two RBIs and one run scored each. Joseph Talarico pitched six strong innings, striking out seven batters. Trevor Kester-Johnson provided solid relief pitching to close out the game.
Women’s Tennis: City College vs. Canyons (5-4) W
The women’s tennis team narrowly defeated Canyons with a score of 5-4. Both teams showcased strong performances, making it a close battle. The Vaqueros managed to edge out the victory, bringing them their wins to 4-1 in conference.
Men’s Tennis: City College at Whittier (2-5) L
Whittier men’s tennis team secured a victory over City College with a score of 5-2. In doubles, number one team Mauritz Seitz and Ludi Chan secured one victory for the Vaqueros with a 6-3 final set score. Ludi Chan also competed in the number two singles spot and won straight sets of 6-4, 7-6, 7-3. With tough competition in Division III, men’s tennis returns to conference play March 4.
Friday, Feb. 28
Women’s Softball: City College vs. Antelope Valley (2-4) L
The Vaqueros suffered a 4-2 loss to Antelope Valley in their home opener. Pitcher Alena Johnson threw seven innings, giving up three earned runs while striking out three and walking six. Standout offense from Mei Frank‘s RBI single and Morgan Grove‘s steal of home plate narrowed the score to 2-4. Despite continued pressure, Antelope Valley’s defense held strong keeping the Vaqueros scoreless for the remainder of the game.
Men’s Volleyball: City College at El Camino (3-0) W
Men’s volleyball finishes their second conference game with another straight set victory 25-21, 25-22, 27-25 over El Camino. With a standout performance by Mykolas Petraitis, he led Vaqueros’ offense with 14 kills and nine digs. Rocky Brazier’s assists fueled the offense, while Keegan Hubbard added 10 kills.
Saturday, March 1
Men’s Baseball: City College vs. Cuesta (2-7) L
City College’s baseball team fell to Cuesta with a score of 7-2. Despite the loss, standout performances included Will Matuszak who went two for four with an RBI and Aiden Camberg who contributed with a successful hit and a run. Joseph Talarico pitched five innings, allowing three earned runs while striking out six batters. Cuesta’s offense was led by strong performances from their hitters, contributing to the seven runs.
Women’s Basketball: City College at Palomar (61- 79) L
In the playoffs, women’s basketball concluded their season with a hard-fought game against Palomar ending in a 79-61 loss. Despite the defeat, standout game performance from freshman Isis Poteet led the team with 19 points and eight rebounds. The game turned physical when Kalee Lawson slammed her head into the floor in the first half, then later fouled out in the fourth quarter. The Vaqueros’ season ended, but they will prepare for next season.
