Participants tackle hills and set records at City College’s first 5K stampede fundraiser

Through the steep hills of campus, up and around Pershing Park, City College hosted its first 5K stampede at La Playa Stadium from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28.

This race lasted about twenty minutes but ran until 10:30 a.m.. A reward ceremony was held after the race was over. Organizers hope to bring this event back at some point next year, encouraging participants to set records for themselves.

 

The race begins as runners pace themselves through the 5 kilometer race on Sept. 28 in Santa Barbara, Calif. “This is the first inaugural Vaquero 5K stampede, and we hope to set records to beat next year,” Athletic Director, LaDean Hansten said. (Sylvia Stewart)
