Monday, Feb. 12
Men’s golf: City College @ River Ridge Golf course, Oxnard (4th place)
City College’s men’s golf team played in Oxnard at 10 a.m. for their second Western State conference. This was their first league game of the season, and the Vaquero men came in 4th overall. Sophomore Jacob Aaron and freshman Vicente Rodriguez finished with the lowest scores of the game, with Aaron in his last season at City College. City College will host the next golf match on Monday, Feb. 19, at Alisal Ranch.
Tuesday, Feb. 13
Men’s baseball: City College vs. Mt. San Antonio (4-2) L
The Vaquero’s baseball team took a tough loss against Mt. San Antonio on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. with a final score of 4-2. City College was behind from the beginning of the first inning, with Mt. San Antonio’s Kaden Moeller starting with a 3-run homer. Relief pitcher Jordan Rico fought hard to bring the team back in the game, pitching a 5-inning shutout, but it was not enough for The Vaqueros to bring home a win.
Men’s tennis: City College vs. Riverside (6-3) L
City College’s men’s tennis team faced Riverside City College on Tuesday at 2 p.m., hosting a preseason event. Mauritz Seitz and Daniel Truong won each of their singles matches. Freshman Seitz collected two wins during the match with scores of 6-1, and 6-3 during doubles, yet the team ended in a loss with a final score of 6-3.
Women’s tennis: City College vs. Glendale (6-3) L
The Vaquero’s women’s tennis team had a match against Glendale City College for their second conference game. Doubles team Sierra Bolanos and Nicole O’Malley dominated their match, bringing home an 8-3 win. O’Malley stayed strong in her singles match with two scores of 6-4 and 6-2 against freshman Philomena Marquez. Glendale won a double and single match by default, pushing City College behind and ending with a 6-3 loss.
Women’s softball: City College vs. LA Mission (9-4) L
City College’s softball team lost against LA Mission with a final score of 9-4. While pitching 6 innings total, both Gracie Verdugo and Elliana Ryan showed they are more than just pitchers; each of them had 2 RBIs, with Verdugo hitting a homer in the top of the 5th. Softball’s first home game is around the corner against Saddleback on Friday, Feb. 16.
Wednesday, Feb. 14
Men’s volleyball: City College vs. Fullerton (W)
Vaquero’s men’s volleyball team beat Fullerton College at 6 p.m. during their fourth game of the season. Individual stats were not available for City College regarding the game against Fullerton at the time of publishing.
Thursday, Feb. 15
Men’s Baseball: City College vs. Cerro Coso (12-2) W
City College slammed Cerro Coso College with a final score of 12-2. The Vaqueros scored a total of 4 runs by the top of the third inning. Outfield player Parker Hellekson doubled within the first ten minutes, along with players Presley Kosciusko and Sebastian Arguelles, each scoring points after Hellekson.
Women’s tennis: City College vs. Santa Monica (7-2) L
The Vaquero’s women’s tennis team took a hard loss against Santa Monica College, ending with a score of 7-2. Individual stats regarding the game against Santa Monica were not available for City College at the time of publishing.
