City College Women’s Volleyball lost another tough match to Moorpark 3-0 on Friday in the team’s final home game this season.
“I think we had really good energy throughout the match. Moorpark is a really good team and we played them way better than we did earlier in the season,” said Lauren Holsted.
The Vaqueros are 8-13 overall, and 4-6 at home this season.
“I kept preaching to the girls throughout the match [that] I just want to see them get better. At this point I’m less concerned on wins and loses, I’m just more concerned on the development,” said Head Coach Kat Niksto.
Throughout the match Niksto did not want her players giving up or giving Moorpark free points.
“Against a really good team you can’t give them free points, you can’t make errors and you can’t give them easy balls because they’ll shove it down your throat and we did that way too much in the first two sets,” said Niksto.
City College struggled in the first two sets of the match and lost the third set 22-25.
Madi Mullins and Lauren Holsted stepped up throughout the match and tried to help their team win.
“Those girls played phenomenal. They have been giving it their best all season I’m very proud of them and I’m excited to see what they can do next year,” said Niksto.
City College’s Women’s Volleyball season may be coming to an end but that’s not stopping them from working hard this offseason to come back with a better team.
“I’m going to do whatever I can to have our team ready for next season,” said Niksto.
City College’s last game of the season is at 6 p.m on Friday, Nov. 15 in Ventura.
