The Vaqueros beat LA Pierce College 73-68 in the team’s final game of the season Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Sports Pavilion in Santa Barbara.
City College got off to a strong start and led 36-29 at halftime and never looked back.
Pierce had a very short bench and struggled to match the fresh legs of the Vaqueros’ substitutes.
“I’m happy for the team even though it wasn’t the best season,” head coach Sandrine Krul said. “They have all been great.”
The Vaqueros finished their season with an 11-15 record. The Vaqueros won their first game against College of the Canyons 85-79 in a conference game on January 11.
The losing streak began with a loss against Moorpark College 58-43 on Jan.15, and lost nine games in a row until they played against Allan Hancock and won 66-57, on Feb. 19.
The team agreed that they had been struggling but would like to thank the coaches for the season.
