City College’s Joel Medina was honored as the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Athlete of the Week.
Medina, a sophomore linebacker for the football team made 9 tackles, 2.5 for loss and a sack in the Vaqueros’ second win in a 14-6 decision at L.A. Valley.
“[Medina] has a lot of heart, a lot of intensity and is really committed,” head coach Craig Moropoulos said. “He had opportunities last game and came up with some big tackles. He was a big part of that win for us.”
The Vaqueros (2-2, 1-0) defense allowed 31 total yards in the second half and just 22 total rush yards for the game with just a single first down.

City College football travels to L.A. Southwest on Saturday for a 6 p.m. game.
