The murderous assaults on Palestinians carried out by the government of Israel have nothing to do with the concept of Israel as the Holy Land. “Israel” stands for peace and justice. The ongoing theft of land and genocidal actions that have been happening since 1948 is a reflection on a government that has usurped the title of “Israel”, not on Jews, many of whom oppose the atrocities happening.
The Palestinians’ greatest crime has been to be in the way. Their land has been coveted, and stolen to make way for illegal settlements.
The collective punishment done by the Israeli government on refugee camps, hospitals, and food distribution areas is unethical and illegal under international law. Better to go after the perpetrators of violence. Individuals who commit acts of violence need to be captured. Mass slaughter of civilians by the government, many women and children, is wrong and counterproductive of peace.
The U.S. government needs to stop providing weapons for Israel to commit mass killing, and join the International Criminal Court in calling for Netanyahu’s arrest–this body is also calling for the arrest of Hamas leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar. Arresting and trying Netanyahu for war crimes and crimes against humanity will do much to ease tensions in the region, and help save many lives. Like Netanyahu, Hamas’ war criminals belong in jail.
The government of Israel has failed, and is a mistake. It needs to be dissolved, and replaced with a neutral, peace-keeping force. Persons who commit violence should be arrested, whether Palestinian or Jew. No violence should be tolerated in the Holy Land. Stolen land needs to be returned. Reparations are important.
The country can be called “Palestine” or “Israel”. It doesn’t matter what the name of the country is as long as apartheid is abolished and everyone is treated equally by the government.
