Campus security was called around 3 p.m. Feb. 10 to the Cyber Center in the Campus Center where a man had been seen performing a lewd act. An officer questioned the person, who is not currently enrolled at City College but attended last semester. He told campus security that he had just been watching a cartoon superhero movie for about an hour and denied looking at any obscene material.
At the same time, in another room, a female student, who witnessed the incident, was questioned by campus security. The student told the officer she witnessed a man watching pornographic material and fondling himself. A security officer asked an employee of the Cyber Center to discover what the former student was viewing. Once they learned they would be able to check the history on the computer, officers told the suspect. He still claimed he had not done anything wrong.
Campus security escorted the man outside the Campus Center, telling him that he was going to have to wait with them while they checked the computer. Officers again asked the former student if he had been watching pornographic material or if he had performed any inappropriate acts. At this time he finally admitted to watching pornography for about 10 minutes and rubbing the area of his shorts between his legs.
The former student then asked if he was aware that viewing indecent material was not allowed on campus.
He admitted to campus security that he had known the viewing of inappropriate material was not allowed on school computers and offered no direct reason for his actions.
The suspect was taken to the Office of Student Life for disciplinary action.
