A survey for students who rely on the Metropolitan Transit District (MTD) and attend late night classes is under development, according to the Associated Student Government on Friday, April 21.
Carys Goldsmith, commissioner of marketing, announced that the transportation committee has created a draft of the survey students will soon be able to fill out regarding their class schedule and access to transportation.
The survey will help the ASG collect information about the trending issues revolving around the conflict between the MTD and late night class schedule.
The stipend policy committee introduced new amendments to the ASG’s current standing rules on stipends for elected and appointed officers.
“We’re not getting paid any more, and we’re not getting paid any less,” Vice President of External Affairs Divya Ramesh said.
Currently, the hourly rate for an elected and appointed officer is $15 an hour, with a maximum of 10 hours weekly for an elected officer, and five hours weekly for an appointed officer. The ASG said that their payments did not sum to the minimum amount they were supposed to be paid per month.
With the new amendment, an elected officer is compensated an hourly rate of $20 at a maximum of 10 hours weekly, for a total of $800 per month. An appointed officer is granted an hourly rate of $15 at a maximum of 6.25 hours weekly, for a total of $500 per month.
The new stipend amendment also includes an additional month’s worth of pay for the beginning two weeks of December and May, which have been unaccounted for in prior disbursements.
These changes will be voted upon in next week’s meeting on Friday, April 28.
