With so much happening around the City College community, The Channels would like to offer a single place for the most important information. We’ll be compiling a weekly list of current and upcoming events to keep readers up to date on campus news.
– Former City College Interim Superintendent-President Dr. Helen Benjamin and Rev. Larry D. Smith will be hosting a virtual meeting for the new book, “How We Got Over: Growing Up in the Segregated South” on Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m on Zoom. According to the event announcement, the book contains a series of vignettes capturing the Black youth experience in Louisiana during the mid-twentieth century.
- The CARES/HEERF grants were awarded earlier this week. Confirmation of the grant will come through the student’s email. In order to see the amount allotted, students can look at the “financial aid” section on City College’s Pipeline website. The awards will be disbursed by March 18. – Student Health and Wellness Services are offering free flu shots for City College students. Contact (805) 730-4098 to make an appointment. Questions can be sent to the “Ask a Nurse” service through the college’s medical services website.
– The East Campus Cafeteria is now open. The cafeteria is open from Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The Starbucks in the Student Store is open as well and will be operating from Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
