Friday, Sept. 20: Phi Theta Kappa will host an event on the West Campus walkway to stand in solidarity with Greta Thunberg, a 16-year-old climate change activist. Students are encouraged to come wearing blue.
Friday, Sept. 20 and Sept. 27: Marches will be taking place downtown in the De La Guerra Plaza to address climate change and stand in solidarity with Greta Thunberg. These climate marches will be at 11 a.m., Sept. 20 and noon, Sept. 27.
Saturday, Sept. 21: Following last Wednesday’s Courageous Conversations for Outrageous Times, City College will host 2019: Chican@ Time Conference for 500 years of Tenochtitlan and 50 years of Chicana/o Studies from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Business-Communication Building Forum. The conference will feature Chicana/o scholars and activists and will focus on the theme of being simultaneously ancient and modern.
Sunday, Sept. 22: The Santa Barbara Postpartum Education for Parents organization will hold its ninth annual Touch-a-Truck event on West Campus. Parents are encouraged to bring their young children to play with trucks provided by the organization. There will also be a “no honking,” hour from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. for people who might have an adverse reaction to loud noises. Tickets for the event are available through https://www.sbpep.org.
Tuesday, Sept. 24: City College will host College Night Out, free for students with valid student I.D. The event will take place at the Paseo Nuevo Shopping Center from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will consist of activities and giveaways for students.
