The finalists for City College’s Superintendent-President position were announced Thursday, April 14, at the Board of Trustees meeting.
Current Superintendent-President Dr. Lori Gaskin announced her plans to retire at the end of the academic year last fall semester, and City College officials begun the search shortly after.
A committee of 16 appointed members, consisting of faculty, students and community members, participate in the screening process. After months of interviewing candidates, sorting through 42 applications, the committee has narrowed the search down to five candidates.
Geoff Green and Kim Monda presented the news at the meeting.
“It’s exciting but bittersweet,” said Monda.
The five finalists are as follows:
- Dr. Anthony Beebe
- Dr. Barbara Kavalier
- Dr. Kindred Murillo
- Dr. Melinda Nish
- Dr. Jill Stearns
The college will hold a community forum where finalists will answer questions from the public, at 10 a.m. Monday, April 25, in the Garvin Theatre. Each finalist will give a one hour presentation, followed by an open mic interview question opportunity. The forum will also be live streamed and will be available afterwards online for viewing.
Board interviews with the candidates will be held beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, at the Santa Barbara Foundation office.
