Feb. 29—8:05
A possibly intoxicated student was injured while working in the cafeteria. An ambulance was called and the student was taken to the hospital. The police were not contacted, but the student was referred to the dean of student discipline. The details of the injury were not released to secure the privacy of the student.
March 1—10:45 p.m.
A suspect vandalized a men’s bathroom with grafitti between 11 p.m. Feb. 29 and 10:45 p.m. March 1. The bathroom was located on the bottom floor of the Administration Building. The graffiti matches a string of incidents previously reported to Campus Security. Security suspects it to be the same person.
March 2—7:35 p.m.
The windshield of a student’s car was damaged by a softball, hit during a team practice. City College’s softball team was practicing at Pershing Park and hit a foul ball. The college will cover the cost of the repair.
March 7—3:55 p.m.
A male student spit on the back of another male student after a verbal dispute in the men’s restroom in the Physical Science Building. Security doesn’t know if the students previously knew each other. Both students were identified by security and told to have no further contact.
March 7—4:15 p.m.
Security confiscated a handicapped placard that was being misused by a student. The student was caught using her grandfather’s placard to park in a handicap stall in Lot 2C near La Playa Stadium. Security realized that the student’s parking permit did not match the registration on the placard and confiscated it. It was turned it over to the Department of Motorized Vehicles, and the student will have to pay a fine.
March 7—8:00 p.m.
Security found a car using a fake carpool permit while parked in Lot 4-C, and was able to identify the driver. The student had signed and put a fake date on a blank carpool permit. Security is investigating how the student acquired the blank carpool pass, which is only issued at the kiosk. The student was referred to the dean of student discipline.
March 8—9:00 p.m.
A wallet went missing from an unattended bag on the first floor of the Luria Library between 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on March 8. The student suspects her wallet was stolen. She left her bag unattended on a chair a few times while in the library, but did not realize that her wallet was gone until 9 p.m. later that night.
March 9—4:00 p.m.
A red and black mountain bike valued at $1,800 was stolen from Lot 2C near the La Playa Stadium entrance. The bike was locked to the fence with a Kryptonite U-Lock for an entire week. The bike was taken apart in order to steal the parts. All that was left was the a small part of the bike and the lock.
March 9—9:30 a.m.
A City College instructor was indirectly threatened by a student in the East Campus Classrooms Room 14 during their morning office hours. A staff member who the instructor told about the incident reported it to security. The Santa Barbara Police Department was contacted immediately and spoke to the student. The student was not arrested, but was referred to the dean of student discipline.
March 10—8:43 a.m.
A male student verbally harassed a female student during class in the Interdisciplinary Building. The class instructor heard the harassment and contacted security immediately. Campus Security is gathering more information on the incident before contacting police. It is an ongoing investigation so limited details were able to be shared.
