A male student sent a female student numerous unwanted texts. She had asked him to stop, but he continued to harass her. He was upset because she didn’t want to have any involvement with him. The male student was referred to the dean of student discipline.
Sept. 18 – N.D.
A former student yelled degrading racial slurs at an employee working at the cashier’s desk in the Student Services Building. The student was angry because she had dropped all of her classes after the deadline for the tuition refund had passed, and therefore could not get her money back.
Sept. 18 – 2:15 p.m.
Two students saw a white Toyota Corolla hit a parked Volkswagen Passat and then drive away. The incident happened in Parking Lot 2-C next to La Playa Stadium. The students left a note on the car that was hit with the license plate and a description of the Toyota. By the time the owner of the Volkswagen was able to report the hit-and-run, the suspect had already left the campus. The victim was referred to the Santa Barbara Police Department.
Sept. 19 – 9:45 a.m.
A student’s bike was stolen from the bike parking near the Luria Library on West Campus after it was left there overnight. The student left the $500 bike on Thursday night, and when he returned on Saturday morning the cable lock was cut and the bike was gone.
Sept. 21 – 3:15 p.m.
An unknown vehicle hit a student’s car sometime between 7:45 a.m. and 2:54 p.m. in the La Playa Stadium Parking Lot and then left the scene. The student noticed white paint scraped along the door and on the mirror. The victim spoke to someone who had noticed a white Mustang backing out of the spot next to the car that was hit, but there were no further details. The student was referred to the Santa Barbara Police Department.
Sept. 22 – 1:20 p.m.
A female student was yelled at by another female student in the hallway of the Humanities Building at noon on Thursday, Sept. 17. The victim said she recognized the other girl from a previous semester but did not know her name. The suspect allegedly yelled various things including, “you are dumb,” and “you are a psychopath,” according to campus security. A staff member eventually interrupted the scene and told the girl to lower her voice.
Sept. 22 – 9:30 a.m.
A man who is not a student at City College came onto campus and showed a female student a sexually crude photo that he had on his phone. The student knew him from the past, but it was an unwanted visit. She was told to call security if she sees him on campus again.
Sept. 23 – 1:50 p.m.
A drunken homeless man was escorted off campus after passing out in the men’s bathroom of La Playa Stadium. Campus security has not had any more issues with him.
Sept. 23 – 3:40 p.m.
Several people were escorted off of City College for smoking campus. One person who was a student of Kaplan International English was being particularly difficult towards an officer, and the administration was notified. The students were smoking in the garden on East Campus, which is a common problem area for smoking.
