A female student’s debit card and cash was stolen from her backpack after she used it to save a seat in the Luria Library. The debit card was charged with several hundred dollars before the student canceled the card. The suspect was not found, and the student was advised to report the crime to the Santa Barbara Police Department.
Sept. 14 – 5:15 a.m.
A concrete trash can on West Campus was cracked in half and severely damaged after being pushed over sometime between Sept. 11 and Sept. 14. Campus security believes it to be a random act of aggression.
Sept. 14 – 5:30 a.m.
Two fire extinguishers were tampered with on East Campus. One of them, located on the first floor of the Physical Sciences Building, had been emptied. The second fire extinguisher on the third floor of the Humanities Building was emptied and taken. Campus security believes that it is likely the person who destroyed the trash can was also the one who tampered with the fire extinguishers.
Sept. 17 – 12:40 p.m.
A student’s laptop was stolen from a female restroom in the Business Communications Building after the computer was left unattended for about 10 minutes. The stolen MacBook has not been found, and there are no suspects.
