An alleged sexual assault took place on City College campus Aug. 25, the day before students returned to classes.
City College was notified by the female victim’s parents this morning, who alerted the authorities to the alleged disturbance. The student has left the college and is headed back to her home state.
According to the Security Alert, released on Aug. 27, no description of the suspect, location, or condition of the victim was given.
Sgt. Riley Harwood, public information officer for the Santa Barbara Police Department, said that investigators are trying to contact the student but no report has been filed.
“We wanted to get the word out so people would be alert,” said Superintendent-President Dr. Lori Gaskin.
Gaskin said the college is putting together a crisis intervention team to discuss tips everyone should know to stay safe on campus.
If anyone has any information regarding this incident or observes any suspicious behavior please contact Santa Barbara Police Department (911 or 987 2410) and Santa Barbara City College Security at 730-4200.
