City College students get a chance to showcase their skills in this year’s Talent Extravaganza, at 6 p.m. May 10 in the BC forum. The event is sponsored by the Associated Student Senate.
“The purpose is the build school spirit while allowing students to show off their talents,” said Mayra Carvajal, Vice President of External Affairs.
The evening will be filled with singing, dancing, acting and much more.
The senate held two rounds of auditions and narrowed it down to 10 participants. Out of these 10 acts in the show, the top three performers will receive cash prizes.
Between acts there will be audience participation where they can play trivia games and win small prizes. The senate is also hoping to get a few local bands to play simply for entertainment sake.
This event is a huge fundraiser for the senate. The money that is raised will help fund City College clubs in the future.
“We’re all really excited about this,” said Senate President Geneva Sherman. “It’s going to be a great way to help get us money but at the same time giving students a little friendly competition.”
Last semester the senate had great success with hosting the singing competition “Encores” and they expect an even greater turn out for this show.
Tickets are already on sale for $8 in the office of student life. The senate will have a table set up in two weeks where they will be promoting the event and selling additional tickets. Any leftover tickets will be sold at the door the night of the event.
