March 23 – 12:00 p.m.
Two homeless individuals offered cocaine to high school students at the Santa Barbara Easter Relays. A concerned parent informed security about the disturbance coming from the upper La Playa Stadium entrance. When campus security workers arrived, one individual ran away. Security approached the second, uncooperative individual. The individual was highly intoxicated and refused to leave campus. He was escorted near the fire road of Pershing Park and threatened security officers. He put his hands behind his back and said, “don’t make me pull this out, it will be a bad day for all of you.” Security workers backed away and watched him as he walked down the fire road. He did not pull a weapon from his jacket or pants. SBPD responded and arrested the individual off campus.
April 1 – 5:20 a.m.
A student was discovered living out of her car and spending nights in the parking structure of PK 5 – 2. A security worker approached the vehicle and recognized the car from three previous accounts. The woman was warned in the past about restrictions to spend the night on campus in her vehicle. She refused to cooperate and SBPD was called.
April 2 – 2:50 p.m.
Cafeteria staff witnessed a male student stealing a candy bar from the West Campus Cafeteria. He walked out without paying and staff confronted the individual and demanded him to stay. He was hesitant to go back but eventually cooperated. Campus security workers spoke to the student and he is being referred to student discipline.
April 2 – 9:20 a.m.
A Range Rover was observed nearly striking a staff member speeding at a high rate through Lot 1 – B. It is believed that a male driver was dropping off a student in the staff lot. The driver has been warned previously twice about dropping a student off in staff parking. The individual was referred to student discipline.
April 3 – 11:15 a.m.
Campus security workers responded to a report of a parking dispute between a tutor and student in Lot 5 – 4. The woman tutor confronted the student about taking her parking spot. She claimed the student acted aggressive, by shouting and using foul language towards her. The individual was cooperative with security workers, but did not deny or admit to stealing her parking spot.
