City College’s Career Center is open to everyone and helps students find career paths and opportunities.
The Career Center assists students with free counseling and shows them job and internship opportunities.
A semester-long California Pathways into Public Health internship is available for Fall 2025. It will start on Aug. 25 and end on Dec. 5. Any community college and undergraduate students, including Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and international students, are eligible. $18 per hour will be provided for students participating as well as college credit. The application deadline is April 7.
A Home Staging Assistant Internship is currently offered by S&S Design for $20 per hour. No previous experience is required.
For STEM majors once again, the Career Center recommends taking a look at the CNSI-Propel program through UCSB. They offer internships especially dedicated to community college students.
The Center also displays job opportunities. Visiting Angels, a provider for non-medical homecare services, will be hosting a virtual meeting to discuss job opportunities. It will take place at 1:30 p.m. on April 9. on Zoom.
The County of Ventura also offers job opportunities in the public sector with a pay of $17.78 per hour.
Not only does the Career Center offer counseling and internship opportunities, it holds events to present students with different routes and possibilities. Upcoming events curated for STEM majors are planned on Wednesday, April 16.
A STEM career panel followed by a STEM job fair will take place on April 16. Registration is required and free lunch will be provided for. The event will first start with the career panel in the BC Forum from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and will continue with the job fair on the West Campus from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Participants will share their life experiences and journeys during the first half of the event. Employers will be present for the second half. They will discuss and display career opportunities such as internships and jobs to the attendees.
“The Leadership Cafe Part 2- Build Your Crew”, a live podcast event will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, at the Business and Communication Building. The Career Center offers students additional resources through its website and LinkedIn account by providing training videos for job interviews. Its youtube account also offers guidance.
Through a playlist called “Career Pathways Speaker Series”, the Career Center sheds light on different lines of work with specific testimonies and stories.
The Career Center is open to walk-ins from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and also offers online service on Friday. It’s located on the second floor of the Business and Communication building room 221.
