Three City College students volunteered to compete in the second annual cook-off for the popular local cooking show “The Inn Crowd” with Chef Budi Kazali.
Culinary students Ronald Chang, Sarah Parker and Brice Parlant faced off in a mystery protein challenge similar to those seen on “Chopped” and “Next Iron Chef.”
The students had to hastily select their pantry ingredients at a local food warehouse, The Berryman. The protein of choice was revealed right before each challenge began.
They were then given two 30-minute time periods in order to complete an appetizer and as well as an entrée. The panel of judges consisted of Chef Budi Kazali, Randy Bublitz, head of the culinary department, and Gabe Sagile, a local food and wine journalist.
The show features Chef Budi Kazali, an imaginative chef known for his fusion of French and Asian cuisine and the owner of the Ballard Inn & Restaurant here in Santa Barbara.
Viewers are provided with innovative recipes as the series joins Kazali’s creations with that of local wine makers, giving them the opportunity to create their own gourmet dinners at home.
Now on its second season, “The Inn Crowd” with Chef Budi Kazali is an original KEYT3 series.
See it all unfold at 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20 on KEYT3 or catch the episode starting Sept. 21 online at News-Press TV.
