Expectations were high for U2’s new album “No Line on the Horizon”, released March 3.
Maybe that’s why the first impression listening to the songs was such a disappointment.
This album doesn’t fit in to any specific genre. The instrumental sound is rock, but the vocals from the legendary Bono are too weak to match.
His vocals lose the listener after a couple of songs.
The refrains are repetitive in almost every song, and all of the tracks have a kind of similar sound.
It’s not until the sixth track, “Get on Your Boots”, that U2’s classic sound comes through, and some feeling is pumped up by the rhythm.
This brings the album up to “okay,” but nothing more. This album falls short of fan’s hopes.
For a band that has always been so well recieved in the past, there may not be such enthusiasm for this latest attempt.
